These are highly purified combinations of high molecular weight hyaluronic acid in combination with low molecular weight hyaluronic acid (HA) or unsulphated chondroitin.
This delivers high concentrations of HA, with low viscosity.

WHAT IS HYALURONIC ACID?

From a chemical point of view, hyaluronic acid is a polysaccharide belonging to the glycosaminoglycan family (GAG), which are macromolecules made up of long sequences of simple sugars. It has a gelatinous consistency and its distinctive properties include excellent viscoelasticity and high biocompatibility.

WHERE DOES IT COME FROM?

Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in many tissues and fluids of the human body. It is one of the main constituents of connective tissue and is particularly abundant in the articular cartilage and synovial fluid.

WHAT IS ITS ROLE?

Natural hyaluronic acid performs several functions in the joints, including: Lubrication and hydration. It acts as a shock absorber, absorbing stress within the joint. Repair and regeneration of the cartilage.

WHERE IS IT USED IN THE MEDICAL FIELD?

Due to its properties and its favourable safety profile, hyaluronic acid is used in various fields of medicine, e.g. to lubricate the joints and supplement the synovial fluid, or to enhance the wound healing processes. It can also be used in a variety of cosmetic products due to its promising effectiveness in boosting the elasticity of the skin.

HOW IS IT PRODUCED ON AN INDUSTRIAL SCALE?

Hyaluronic acid is traditionally obtained from animal tissues, typically rooster combs. More recently, a combination of biotechnological sciences and pharmaceutical technology has enabled the production of hyaluronic acid by microbial fermentation.
